Stuart is a Welsh actor and writer from Port Talbot who won scholarships to train in classical acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, RADA, and LAMDA. A proud Welshman and committed socialist, he founded The Iniquity (Camwedd) Project in 2017, a community-driven arts initiative dedicated to telling the true story of Wales’ first working-class martyr, Dic Penderyn. Its stage production became the first indoor theatrical event staged in Wales following the pandemic, premiering at the Princess Royal Theatre in his hometown in 2021 before touring and winning awards at the 75th Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2022. Broad now serves as Chair of the Welsh-centric film company Calon Films, where he has adapted Iniquity into a feature screenplay to bring the story of Dic Penderyn and the Merthyr Uprising of 1831 to global audiences. He is also a founding member of Calon Y Fro, a community group working to transform St Mary’s Church in Aberafan into an arts and heritage centre with a central focus on Penderyn’s legacy.
Aled is a proud Welshman born in Machynlleth whose deep roots in community and creativity have shaped every chapter of his life. After serving more than 30 years in the UK steel industry in Port Talbot, his career was redirected by recent decarbonisation-driven job cuts, yet Aled’s passion for storytelling and local culture only strengthened. As the writer and director of Wales’ longest-running community pantomime, Taibach Panto, and a former cast member in Michael Sheen’s acclaimed street theatre production The Passion of Port Talbot, he has become a cherished creative force within his community. A devoted family man and tireless advocate for charitable causes, Aled has consistently championed participation in the arts, raising awareness, funding, and enthusiasm for projects that enrich Welsh cultural life.
