Calon Films Casting Call Draws Huge Response

Calon Films recently held an open casting call for its upcoming feature film about Dic Penderyn, drawing an incredible response from aspiring actors across Wales and beyond.

Auditions took place at Insole Court in Cardiff on St David’s Day, where performers travelled from all parts of the country to share their monologues with the Calon Films team. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with passion, pride and a strong sense of hiraeth, with many participants bringing their own connection to Welsh history and storytelling.

Due to the overwhelming interest in the casting call, Calon Films has now opened the opportunity for self-taped auditions. Anyone who was unable to attend the in-person auditions can now submit a self-tape by recording a 3 to 5 minute monologue, uploading it to YouTube as an unlisted video, and submitting the link through the form on our website.

This project aims to tell one of Wales’ most powerful historical stories while creating opportunities for new and emerging talent. The search for voices to help bring this story to life continues, and we look forward to discovering even more performers in the weeks ahead.

Actors who wish to be considered can submit a self-taped audition using the form on our home page. Please upload your monologue to YouTube as an unlisted video and include the link when completing the submission form.
